Depending on the location of your business in the world, you have either made the transition from magnetic stripe to EMV or you are giving it serious consideration. Key management is the biggest challenge you'll face in moving to EMV, and remaining compliant. The requirements are much more complex. Prime Factors has considerable experience helping secure card issuers and personalization bureaus manage cryptographic keys needed for EMV.

Our Bank Card Security System provides both a key management application and API to facilitate EMV card issuance and authorization. Data preparation systems can access needed key facilities while users can easily manage cryptographic hardware functions.

BCSS supports key profiles with both key values and key attributes, derived keys, key versioning, and signed certificates. BCSS provides an easy migration to incorporate these key management processes into an existing card issuing environment.

BCSS works with Thales HSMs to support EMV smart card issuance and on-line authentication. BCSS provides subroutines to support Thales HSM commands that cryptographically prepare data for issuing smart cards. These data preparation functions include generating and managing card issuer public key certificates, and generating unique card keys and certificates. Also available with BCSS and Thales HSMs are dynamic CVV/CVC3 verification, and CVC3 generation for contactless cards. Authentication functions include ARQC verification and ARPC generation that comply with EMV96, EMV2000, and EMV 4.1 standards.
