July 1, 2025 – Prime Factors, a leader in application-level data protection, has been recognized by Gartner® among Data Security Platform (DSP) Vendors in the 2025 Market Guide for Data Security Platforms report.
According to Gartner, “Data security platforms (DSPs) are an essential security control within the data centric technology stack. They are strategically positioned between the application and the database to facilitate controls like encryption, tokenization, dynamic masking and database activity monitoring.” Gartner goes on to point out that, “Leading DSPs deliver most of the components required for enabling good data security governance and optimized data security controls. They achieve this by offering a centralized system for policy and permission control.” Gartner recommends to enterprises, “To implement consistent policies across as many data stores as technically feasible, prioritize DSPs that offer security controls and support for a wide range of data stores.”
“We designed EncryptRIGHT with a unique data-centric security architecture that delivers robust, policy-driven protection with a broad spectrum of built-in security techniques, including encryption, tokenization, and data masking,” said Juan Asenjo, Director of Product Management at Prime Factors. “Our goal has been to simplify delivering data protection at the application layer using centralized policy management and decentralized enforcement which ensures that only authorized users and applications have access to the correct data when necessary. We believe that a policy-driven approach not only streamlines implementation and reduces inconsistencies across a variety of datasets but also optimizes crypto-agility to more easily adapt your security to changes over time.”
According to Gartner, “As many organizations continue to depend on on-premises data stores and hybrid deployments, it’s important for end customers to choose a DSP that also supports these locations. This ensures compatibility of controls while also protecting existing investments in on-premises infrastructure. Moreover, being compatible with multiple deployment models minimizes friction when data needs to be relocated due to future compliance requirements or geopolitical tension. Developing a hybrid data security strategy that leverages the strengths of both cloud-based and on-premises solutions can enhance flexibility and resilience of your data security posture.” Gartner recommends to, “Prioritize on-premises and hybrid deployment support. Choose a DSP that supports on-premises and hybrid deployments to protect existing investments, ensure control compatibility and facilitate seamless data relocation in response to compliance or geopolitical tensions.”
“We see enterprises continue to struggle with increasing challenges around data security integrations, which often results in rising costs and added complexity, especially when migrating to the cloud,” Asenjo said. “The reality is that most of the customers we work with are not moving everything to the cloud all at once. Instead, they are migrating or have migrated portions of their infrastructure and datasets to the cloud while keeping other infrastructure on premises, and they must be able to operate in hybrid deployments. We believe that smart, scalable solutions are those that can help enterprises meet data protection across these hybrid environments with both modern and legacy applications and datasets. Whether an enterprise is running in a modern, distributed cloud environment or supporting a legacy system written in COBOL in a mainframe operating environment on-premises, we believe data protection should be seamless.”
